What is a rolling paper?

Rolling papers, a cornerstone of the smoking experience, are thin sheets made primarily from plant cellulose, designed for rolling cigarettes. Among these, hemp rolling papers are notably popular for their quality and durability. Available in various sizes, colors, and textures, rolling papers can range from standard white or yellowish to colored or printed designs. Some brands also offer pre-rolled tubular papers, catering to a variety of preferences and making the rolling process more convenient for users.

What is a cigarette filter?

A cigarette filter is a small plastic tube with a hole in the centre filled with cellulose fibres. The cigarette filter helps reduce the ingestion of tar and nicotine during the combustion of a cigarette.

The filter of a cigarette, which often resembles cotton, is made of cellulose acetate. This synthetic material is obtained by chemical modification of natural cellulose polymer. The cellulose acetate fibres are treated with titanium dioxide (toxic), then solidly compacted with triacetin (irritant plasticizer) to form the filter.

Finally, the filter is covered with paper that also contains numerous chemical substances. This filling (filter) is pressed into a paper called "coating" or "envelope cap", just as tobacco is pressed into a cigarette paper. To attach the filter to the tobacco sausage, there is another type of paper called "cuff" or "tipping", which can be corked or non-printed depending on the case, but still printed to prevent it from sticking to the lips, making them less likely to be decomposed by water. There are also other types of filters such as charcoal filters, but they are few in number.

Most industrially manufactured cigarettes are equipped with a cigarette filter, but it is also possible to buy cigarette filters separately to roll your own cigarettes.

What is a cigarette tube?

Cigarette tubes offer a convenient solution for those who prefer rolling their own cigarettes but seek an easier method than traditional papers. These pre-made cylinders, typically equipped with a filter at one end, streamline the process, allowing for quick and easy cigarette preparation. Our selection of cigarette tubes comes in standard sizes and is designed to cater to various preferences, ensuring a personalized smoking experience with minimal effort.

Rolling paper brands

OCB: You probably know this brand of rolling papers that has established itself as the most purchased brand year after year in France. OCB stands for Odet-Cascadec-Bolloré, which is a French rolling paper brand.

In 1822, René Bolloré brought back from China a process to make extremely thin paper. He set up the first paper mill on the banks of the Odet that year, and in 1893, another mill was opened in Cascadec, also on the banks of the Odet.

A few years after, a descendant of René Bolloré (Jean-René Bolloré) innovated the OCB brand.

The paper mill therefore provided bible paper, which is a very dense, thin, opaque and resistant paper without mechanical pulp to the Gallimard editions, which is a French publishing group where the publishing house was founded by Gaston Gallimard in 1911.

In 1981, the family paper mill was on the verge of collapse. Bolloré was not in favor of the disappearance of the Bolloré name in Brittany. He took over the company for a symbolic franc, with his older brother Michel-Yves, an engineer, quickly surpassed by the fiery temperament of his younger brother.

In 1987, Vincent Bolloré acquired a competitor, the JOB company from Perpignan, and thus created Bolloré Technologies.

You can find our OCB products in our aisles either in booklets, rolls, and cones where you can buy them individually, in packs, or in bulk. We offer various types of OCB products such as OCB Slim Premium, OCB Double Premium, OCB Organic Hemp Regular, OCB Organic Hemp Slim, OCB Slim Gold, OCB Slim Cones, OCB Virgin Paper Slim, etc., made of hemp, classic, or unbleached in regular and slim formats.

Jass paper: Jass-paper (also known as Jass) is a brand of cigarette paper manufactured in France, created in 2009 by Stephen Chojnacki. The brand is owned by the French company Noza distribution, located in northern France. The aim of the brand is to show customers that it is possible to obtain rolling paper at a good value for money at Sfactory and only from us. The Jass brand is distinguished in 3 ranges where you can find "Jass Classic" which is the leading range of the brand, "Jass black edition" and "Jass Brown". We worked with the most famous mills to achieve a slightly different paper: Jass "Black". Unlike traditional papers composed solely of wood pulp, this one is composed of 70% wood pulp and 30% linen. This results in a truly different touch that meets demand, impossible to miss the ecru paper! The Jass "Brown" are not bleached, which gives them this beautiful natural color and appearance. You can find our Jass paper products in our shelves either in booklets, rolls and packs where you can buy them (by unit, in packets, in lots) where you can find (jass classic, jass black edition, jass brown, jass black edition xl, jass black rolls slim, jass with tips, etc...) in regular, slim, king size slim xl, 1/4 formats.

Raw: Since its inception in 1995 by Josh Kesselman, Raw has revolutionized the rolling paper industry with its focus on natural, unprocessed rolling papers. The brand's commitment to creating "vegan" papers has set it apart, offering smokers a pure and unadulterated smoking experience. Raw's range, including black slim, slim rolls, and organic options, reflects its dedication to sustainability and quality. The success of Raw is not just in its products but in its ability to connect with the community of smokers who prioritize environmental consciousness and a natural smoking experience.

Gizeh: The Gizeh brand appeared in 1920 and is a German brand located near Cologne that offers various smoking products. The history of Gizeh begins with the founding of the pulp factory "Schultz & Cie" in 1881. Based in the northern Black Forest, the industry began producing cigarette paper in 1905. Today, the company operates under the name "Seiden- und Zigarettenpapierfabrik Schoeller & Hoesch GmbH" and has become a specialist in paper tissue manufacturing. By the early 1920s, it was already one of the world's leading manufacturers of cigarette paper. The main driver of its success was the increase in cigarette consumption in the early 20th century. This trend intensified further during the First World War. Soldiers often turned to cigarette tobacco because the supply of filter-tipped cigarettes could not always meet demand. You can find our Gizeh products in our shelves, either as booklets or rolls, where you can buy them individually, in packs, or in bulk. You can find Gizeh hyper-fine, Gizeh hyper-fine slim, Gizeh back slim, Gizeh king size with tips, etc., in classic or hemp material, in regular and slim formats.

Why are rolling papers sometimes white and sometimes brown?

The color of rolling papers, ranging from traditional white to natural brown, signifies the diversity of materials and manufacturing processes used in their creation. The variation in color can be attributed to the type of material used, such as rice, flax, or hemp, and whether the paper is bleached or unbleached. This diversity allows smokers to choose papers based on their smoking preferences, whether they prioritize natural materials or specific burning properties. The industry's commitment to offering a broad spectrum of rolling papers ensures that every smoker can find the perfect paper to enhance their smoking experience, reflecting the personal nature of smoking and the importance of choice in the market.
